Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use CP20 (Chelating agent)? Is CP20 (Chelating agent) safe for nursing mother and child? Does CP20 (Chelating agent) extracts into breast milk? Does CP20 (Chelating agent) has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can CP20 (Chelating agent) influence milk supply or can CP20 (Chelating agent) decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About CP20 (Chelating agent) usage in lactation

Because no information is available on the use of CP20 (Chelating agent) during breastfeeding and it is orally absorbed, an alternate drug is preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant. Australian guidelines recommend against breastfeeding during CP20 (Chelating agent) treatment.[1]
