I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Ferriprox? Is Ferriprox safe for nursing mother and child? Does Ferriprox extracts into breast milk? Does Ferriprox has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Ferriprox influence milk supply or can Ferriprox decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Because no information is available on the use of Ferriprox during breastfeeding and it is orally absorbed, an alternate drug is preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant. Australian guidelines recommend against breastfeeding during Ferriprox treatment.[1]
