Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use XL 184? Is XL 184 safe for nursing mother and child? Does XL 184 extracts into breast milk? Does XL 184 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can XL 184 influence milk supply or can XL 184 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About XL 184 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of XL 184 during breastfeeding. Because XL 184 is more than 97% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life ranges from 55 to 99 hours and it might accumulate in the infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during XL 184 therapy and for 4 months after the last dose.
