Is BIBW2992 Safe in Breastfeeding
Question
I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use BIBW2992? Is BIBW2992 safe for nursing mother and child? Does BIBW2992 extracts into breast milk? Does BIBW2992 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can BIBW2992 influence milk supply or can BIBW2992 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

No information is available on the clinical use of BIBW2992 during breastfeeding. Because BIBW2992 is about 95% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life is about 37 hours and it might accumulate in the infant. the manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during BIBW2992 therapy and for 2 weeks after the last dose.
