Is Tykerb Safe in Breastfeeding

Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Tykerb? Is Tykerb safe for nursing mother and child? Does Tykerb extracts into breast milk? Does Tykerb has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Tykerb influence milk supply or can Tykerb decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

No information is available on the clinical use of Tykerb during breastfeeding. Because Tykerb is more than 99% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life is about 24 hours and it might accumulate in the infant. It is also given in combination with capecitabine, which may increase the risk to the infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during Tykerb therapy.
