Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use HSDB 8209? Is HSDB 8209 safe for nursing mother and child? Does HSDB 8209 extracts into breast milk? Does HSDB 8209 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can HSDB 8209 influence milk supply or can HSDB 8209 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About HSDB 8209 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of HSDB 8209 during breastfeeding. Because HSDB 8209 is more than 99% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life is about 24 hours and it might accumulate in the infant. It is also given in combination with capecitabine, which may increase the risk to the infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during HSDB 8209 therapy.
