Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Intedanib? Is Intedanib safe for nursing mother and child? Does Intedanib extracts into breast milk? Does Intedanib has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Intedanib influence milk supply or can Intedanib decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Intedanib usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of Intedanib during breastfeeding. Because Intedanib is more than 97% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life is about 9.7 hours and it might accumulate in the infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during Intedanib therapy.
