Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use RG 7204? Is RG 7204 safe for nursing mother and child? Does RG 7204 extracts into breast milk? Does RG 7204 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can RG 7204 influence milk supply or can RG 7204 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About RG 7204 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of RG 7204 during breastfeeding. Because RG 7204 is more than 99% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life is 57 hours and it might accumulate in the infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during RG 7204 therapy and for 2 weeks after the final dose.
