Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Zelboraf? Is Zelboraf safe for nursing mother and child? Does Zelboraf extracts into breast milk? Does Zelboraf has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Zelboraf influence milk supply or can Zelboraf decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Zelboraf usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of Zelboraf during breastfeeding. Because Zelboraf is more than 99% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life is 57 hours and it might accumulate in the infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during Zelboraf therapy and for 2 weeks after the final dose.
