Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use ZD 6474? Is ZD 6474 safe for nursing mother and child? Does ZD 6474 extracts into breast milk? Does ZD 6474 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can ZD 6474 influence milk supply or can ZD 6474 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About ZD 6474 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of ZD 6474 during breastfeeding. Because ZD 6474 is 90% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life is 19 days and it might accumulate in the infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during ZD 6474 therapy and for 4 months after the last dose.
