Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use HSDB 8198? Is HSDB 8198 safe for nursing mother and child? Does HSDB 8198 extracts into breast milk? Does HSDB 8198 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can HSDB 8198 influence milk supply or can HSDB 8198 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About HSDB 8198 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of HSDB 8198 during breastfeeding. Because HSDB 8198 is 90% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life is 19 days and it might accumulate in the infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during HSDB 8198 therapy and for 4 months after the last dose.
