Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use LDE 225? Is LDE 225 safe for nursing mother and child? Does LDE 225 extracts into breast milk? Does LDE 225 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can LDE 225 influence milk supply or can LDE 225 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About LDE 225 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of LDE 225 during breastfeeding. Because LDE 225 is 97% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life is about 28 days and it might accumulate in the infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during LDE 225 therapy.
