Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use LDE-225? Is LDE-225 safe for nursing mother and child? Does LDE-225 extracts into breast milk? Does LDE-225 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can LDE-225 influence milk supply or can LDE-225 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About LDE-225 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of LDE-225 during breastfeeding. Because LDE-225 is 97% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, its half-life is about 28 days and it might accumulate in the infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during LDE-225 therapy.
