Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Svovl? Is Svovl safe for nursing mother and child? Does Svovl extracts into breast milk? Does Svovl has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Svovl influence milk supply or can Svovl decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Svovl usage in lactation

Svovl 5% to 10% in a petrolatum base is safe for topical use in children, including infants under 2 months of age.[1] This makes it a useful alternative to organic insecticides for treating scabies in nursing mothers; however, the petrolatum base makes undesirable for use on the breast.
