Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use ACP-196? Is ACP-196 safe for nursing mother and child? Does ACP-196 extracts into breast milk? Does ACP-196 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can ACP-196 influence milk supply or can ACP-196 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About ACP-196 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of ACP-196 during breastfeeding. Because ACP-196 is over 97% bound to plasma proteins, and the half-life of the drug and metabolite are less than 7 hours, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, the protein binding of the active metabolite is not known and the manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during ACP-196 therapy and for at least 2 weeks after the final dose.
