Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use AIC 246? Is AIC 246 safe for nursing mother and child? Does AIC 246 extracts into breast milk? Does AIC 246 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can AIC 246 influence milk supply or can AIC 246 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About AIC 246 usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of AIC 246 during breastfeeding. Because AIC 246 is 99% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be very low. If AIC 246 is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding. However, an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
