Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use AIC-246? Is AIC-246 safe for nursing mother and child? Does AIC-246 extracts into breast milk? Does AIC-246 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can AIC-246 influence milk supply or can AIC-246 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About AIC-246 usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of AIC-246 during breastfeeding. Because AIC-246 is 99% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be very low. If AIC-246 is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding. However, an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
