Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Prevymis? Is Prevymis safe for nursing mother and child? Does Prevymis extracts into breast milk? Does Prevymis has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Prevymis influence milk supply or can Prevymis decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Prevymis usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of Prevymis during breastfeeding. Because Prevymis is 99% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be very low. If Prevymis is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding. However, an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
