Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Dexrazoxanum? Is Dexrazoxanum safe for nursing mother and child? Does Dexrazoxanum extracts into breast milk? Does Dexrazoxanum has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Dexrazoxanum influence milk supply or can Dexrazoxanum decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Dexrazoxanum usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of Dexrazoxanum during breastfeeding. The manufacturer recommends that women not breastfeed during treatment and for 2 weeks following the final dose of Dexrazoxanum. However, because Dexrazoxanum is used with doxorubicin, the abstinence period might be longer, depending on the doxorubicin dose.
