I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use rAvPAL-PEG? Is rAvPAL-PEG safe for nursing mother and child? Does rAvPAL-PEG extracts into breast milk? Does rAvPAL-PEG has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can rAvPAL-PEG influence milk supply or can rAvPAL-PEG decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

No information is available on the use of rAvPAL-PEG-pqpz during breastfeeding. Absorption of the drug by the infant from breastmilk is unlikely because it is a polypeptide that is probably destroyed in the infant's gastrointestinal tract. rAvPAL-PEG-pqpz may decrease the phenylalanine content of breastmilk. The manufacturer recommends monitoring blood phenylalanine concentrations in breastfeeding women treated with rAvPAL-PEG-pqpz.
