Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Narzine? Is Narzine safe for nursing mother and child? Does Narzine extracts into breast milk? Does Narzine has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Narzine influence milk supply or can Narzine decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Narzine usage in lactation

Narzine is not approved for marketing in the United States by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, but is available in other countries. No information is available on the use of Narzine during breastfeeding. Because of its long half-life of 19 days in children, expert opinion recommends that Narzine not be used in migraine prophylaxis.[1][2][3] An alternate drug is preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
