Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use UNII-262P8GS9L9? Is UNII-262P8GS9L9 safe for nursing mother and child? Does UNII-262P8GS9L9 extracts into breast milk? Does UNII-262P8GS9L9 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can UNII-262P8GS9L9 influence milk supply or can UNII-262P8GS9L9 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About UNII-262P8GS9L9 usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of UNII-262P8GS9L9 during breastfeeding. UNII-262P8GS9L9 can cause hemolysis in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency. If UNII-262P8GS9L9 is required, testing the mother and infant for G6PD deficiency is required before the drug is given to a nursing mother. Because the half-life of UNII-262P8GS9L9 averages 15 days, the manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding should not breastfeed for 3 months after the dose if the infant is G6PD deficient.
