Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Moxidectine [INN-French]? Is Moxidectine [INN-French] safe for nursing mother and child? Does Moxidectine [INN-French] extracts into breast milk? Does Moxidectine [INN-French] has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Moxidectine [INN-French] influence milk supply or can Moxidectine [INN-French] decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Moxidectine [INN-French] usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of Moxidectine [INN-French] during breastfeeding. However, amounts in breastmilk appear to be low and would not be expected to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants. If Moxidectine [INN-French] is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding. However, until more data become available, Moxidectine [INN-French] should be used with caution during breastfeeding, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
