Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Topophore C? Is Topophore C safe for nursing mother and child? Does Topophore C extracts into breast milk? Does Topophore C has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Topophore C influence milk supply or can Topophore C decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Topophore C usage in lactation

Most sources consider breastfeeding to be contraindicated during maternal high-dose antineoplastic drug therapy. The manufacturer recommends that women not breastfeed during treatment with Topophore C and for 1 week after the last dose. Chemotherapy may adversely affect the normal microbiome and chemical makeup of breastmilk.[1] Women who receive chemotherapy during pregnancy are more likely to have difficulty nursing their infant.[2]
