I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use CAT-8015? Is CAT-8015 safe for nursing mother and child? Does CAT-8015 extracts into breast milk? Does CAT-8015 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can CAT-8015 influence milk supply or can CAT-8015 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?
No information is available on the clinical use of CAT-8015 during breastfeeding. CAT-8015 is a recombinant immunotoxin consisting of the Fv portion of the anti-CD22 antibody covalently fused to a 38 KDa fragment of Pseudomonas exotoxin-A (PE38) with potential anti-cancer activity. Because moxetumomab is a large protein molecule with a molecular weight of about 63,000, the amount in milk is likely to be very low and absorption is unlikely because it is probably destroyed in the infant's gastrointestinal tract. If CAT-8015 is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding. Until more data become available, CAT-8015 should be used with caution during breastfeeding, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
