I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Plavix? Is Plavix safe for nursing mother and child? Does Plavix extracts into breast milk? Does Plavix has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Plavix influence milk supply or can Plavix decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

No published information is available on the use of Plavix during breastfeeding. The manufacturer reports that no adverse effects have been observed in breastfed infants with maternal Plavix use during lactation in a small number of postmarketing cases. If Plavix is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding. However, since no published information is available on the use of Plavix during breastfeeding, an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
