This is a moss that contains a lot of mucilage, Eucheuma spinosum gumin (Galactose polymers), much Iodine and some Arsenic. The Commission E of the German Ministry of Health has not approved any medical indication of this plant. Traditionally used as a laxative drug. It is also used to make fluids thicker or jelly-like in the food and cosmetic industry. We have to take into account its content of iodine in order to achieve WHO’s recommendations on Iodine supplementation.
