Used in the treatment of filaria, loa, mansonella and toxocara infection. Not longer recommended for onchocerciasis. Dosage for children is available. Periodic treatment strategies for entire populations have been undertaken (not recommended for newborns). Diethylcarbamazine enriched salt has been used. Check-up for untoward effects related to the drug itself which are usually mild and parasite killing dependent. Not commercially available in Spain.
