I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use HSDB 489? Is HSDB 489 safe for nursing mother and child? Does HSDB 489 extracts into breast milk? Does HSDB 489 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can HSDB 489 influence milk supply or can HSDB 489 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

HSDB 489 (dextrose), as a component of oral re-hydration solutions, fluids for IV use, or, as excipient of drugs, is entirely compatible with breastfeeding. Nevertheless, D/W solutions orally used in neonates just after birth are highly discourage since it may affect initiation of lactation seriously.
