Answer by Dr. Ru: About Vorikonazole usage in lactation

Antifungal drug with similar structure than fluconazole available for systemic, oral and intravenous use, and topically for ophthalmic purposes. A latest update no published data on excretion in breast milk were found. Pharmacokinetic data indicates that it may likely pass into the milk in amounts that could be significant.Authorized use in children as young as 2 years of age. It has been used in 10-months-old infants. Until more published data on this drug regarding breastfeeding is available, safer alternatives of better known drugs, should be preferable, especially during the neonatal period and in case of prematurity. The small dose and poor absorption into plasma of most ophthalmic preparations makes it unlikely the pass of the drug into breast milk in significant amount.
