Answer by Dr. Ru: About Herocaine usage in lactation

At latest update no published data on excretion into breast milk was found. Topical anesthetics (dermatological and mouth preparations when correctly applied like creams, subcutaneous injections for infiltration or spinal anesthesia) have negligible systemic absorption.Pharmacokinetic data (poor absorption and short half-life span) make it highly unlikely the passage into milk in significant amount. Do not apply it on the chest or, whenever necessary, apply it after having nursed the baby and clean it thoroughly up with water before the next meal. Having been published less experience than with other drugs of the same group, it would be preferable the use of a known safer alternative, especially during the neonatal period and in case of premature birth.

Alternate Drugs for Local Anesthetics. ATC S01H.
