I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Ivf? Is Ivf safe for nursing mother and child? Does Ivf extracts into breast milk? Does Ivf has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Ivf influence milk supply or can Ivf decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

In vitro fertilization with donated ovules does not contraindicate breastfeeding. The hormonal over stimulation of the ovarium to obtain own ovules may poses a handicap to frequent on demand breastfeeding due to its known inhibitory effect. Among the medication commonly used (e.g. Leuprorelin, Clomiphene, hMG, hCG, Progesterone, Estrogens and FSH) only the last two substances are known to inhibit milk production.
