Answer by Dr. Ru: About Tyrothricine usage in lactation

Polypeptide with antibacterial properties which is isolated through fermentation of Bacillus brevis. It contains a mixture of Gramicidin and Tyrocidine.Topically used on skin and mouth infections, often associated with benzocaine. It is highly toxic when systemically used. It has been withdrawn from the market in some countries due to lack of therapeutic effectiveness. Given its negligible systemic absorption and high molecular weight, excretion into breastmilk is highly unlikely. Do not apply on the breast to prevent ingestion by the infant.
