Answer by Dr. Ru: About (-)-Dropropizine usage in lactation

Non-opioid cough relief medication. At latest update, relevant published data on excretion into breast milk were not found. Pharmacokinetic characteristics (low molecular weight, low protein-binding capacity) would favour that it may be excreted into breast milk in significant amount. Until more information on it is available, safer options are preferred, especially when the infant is a newborn or in case of prematurity. Otherwise whenever used, the lower effective dose as possible and for the shortest time is recommended. Follow-up for somnolence and feeding troubles should be warranted.
