Is Acetorphan Safe in Breastfeeding

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Acetorphan? Is Acetorphan safe for nursing mother and child? Does Acetorphan extracts into breast milk? Does Acetorphan has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Acetorphan influence milk supply or can Acetorphan decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by Dr. Ru: About Acetorphan usage in lactation
An anti-enkephalin that decreases intestinal secretion. Since the latest update, we have not found published data on its excretion in breast milk. Its high percentage of protein binding makes it unlikely it will transfer to milk in significant quantities. Possible side effects are not serious or frequent. Its use is authorized in infants from 3 months of age (Pediamecum 2015) Its indiscriminate use in treating gastroenteritis is not justified. Most cases of gastroenteritis do not require medication: good hydration is sufficient, even more so in the case of a breastfeeding mother.
