Progestogen with antiandrogenic properties that is used for the treatment of conditions with hypersexuality, prostate carcinoma, transsexualism and, together with ethinyl estradiol, for hirsutism, acne and alopecia and hyperandrogenism in women. It is excreted into breast milk in small quantities (Stoppelli 1980), but their anti-androgenic effects could be clinically significant for the infant when doses of 50 milligrams per day or higher are used. The small amount (2 mg) contained in contraceptive tablets in which it is combined with ethinyl estradiol would represent a very low risk and would be compatible with breastfeeding.
