Is Diphenoxylate Safe in Breastfeeding

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Diphenoxylate? Is Diphenoxylate safe for nursing mother and child? Does Diphenoxylate extracts into breast milk? Does Diphenoxylate has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Diphenoxylate influence milk supply or can Diphenoxylate decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

No data exist on the use of diphenoxylate during breastfeeding. One expert panel considers diphenoxylate to be unacceptable during breastfeeding.[1] Based on its chemical and pharmacological similarity to narcotics, occasional small doses of diphenoxylate may be acceptable while breastfeeding an older infant, but alternatives are preferred, especially while nursing a newborn.
