It is used in the treatment of leukemia, and, hepatitis B and C. Breast milk contains several interferon-like substances which contribute to its anti-viral action. High molecular weight of interferon accounts for its small secretion into breast milk. A minimal gastrointestinal absorption is commonly accepted.
