Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use CCRIS 5230? Is CCRIS 5230 safe for nursing mother and child? Does CCRIS 5230 extracts into breast milk? Does CCRIS 5230 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can CCRIS 5230 influence milk supply or can CCRIS 5230 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About CCRIS 5230 usage in lactation

The amounts of inhaled CCRIS 5230 excreted into breastmilk are minute and infant exposure is negligible. When taken by mouth, CCRIS 5230 is only about 9% bioavailable; bioavailability in the infant is likely to be similarly low for any CCRIS 5230 that enters the breastmilk. Most experts consider oral and inhaled corticosteroids, including CCRIS 5230, acceptable to use during breastfeeding.[1][2][3][4][5]

CCRIS 5230 Side Effects in Breastfeeding
