Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Budesonido? Is Budesonido safe for nursing mother and child? Does Budesonido extracts into breast milk? Does Budesonido has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Budesonido influence milk supply or can Budesonido decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Budesonido usage in lactation

The amounts of inhaled Budesonido excreted into breastmilk are minute and infant exposure is negligible. When taken by mouth, Budesonido is only about 9% bioavailable; bioavailability in the infant is likely to be similarly low for any Budesonido that enters the breastmilk. Most experts consider oral and inhaled corticosteroids, including Budesonido, acceptable to use during breastfeeding.[1][2][3][4][5]

Budesonido Side Effects in Breastfeeding

None reported with any corticosteroid.
