Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use CP 52640? Is CP 52640 safe for nursing mother and child? Does CP 52640 extracts into breast milk? Does CP 52640 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can CP 52640 influence milk supply or can CP 52640 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About CP 52640 usage in lactation

Limited information indicates CP 52640 produces low levels in milk that are not expected to cause adverse effects in breastfed infants. Occasionally disruption of the infant's gastrointestinal flora, resulting in diarrhea or thrush have been reported with cephalosporins, but these effects have not been adequately evaluated. CP 52640 is acceptable in nursing mothers.
