Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use FR 13749? Is FR 13749 safe for nursing mother and child? Does FR 13749 extracts into breast milk? Does FR 13749 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can FR 13749 influence milk supply or can FR 13749 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About FR 13749 usage in lactation

Limited information indicates that FR 13749 produces low levels in milk that are not expected to cause adverse effects in breastfed infants. Occasionally disruption of the infant's gastrointestinal flora, resulting in diarrhea or thrush have been reported with cephalosporins, but these effects have not been adequately evaluated. FR 13749 is acceptable in nursing mothers.
