I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Rifabutin? Is Rifabutin safe for nursing mother and child? Does Rifabutin extracts into breast milk? Does Rifabutin has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Rifabutin influence milk supply or can Rifabutin decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

It is a drug that forms a part of Rifamicin group.Indicated for atypical mycobacterium infections, and, TB infection resistant to other drugs.It may red-colored dye the body fluids.

The amount of rifabutin in milk is insufficient to treat tuberculosis in the breastfed infant. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other professional organizations state that breastfeeding should not be discouraged in women taking rifabutin.[1][2][3]
