Is Iodofiltic Acid I 123 Safe in Breastfeeding

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Iodofiltic Acid I 123? Is Iodofiltic Acid I 123 safe for nursing mother and child? Does Iodofiltic Acid I 123 extracts into breast milk? Does Iodofiltic Acid I 123 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Iodofiltic Acid I 123 influence milk supply or can Iodofiltic Acid I 123 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Information in this record refers to the use of iodofiltic acid I 123 (beta-methyl-15-(4-iodophenyl) pentadecanoic acid; I 123 BMIPP) as a diagnostic agent. The International Commission on Radiological Protection states that breastfeeding should be interrupted for more than 3 weeks following diagnostic use of I 123 BMIPP. This usually will result in permanent discontinuation of breastfeeding for this infant.[1] Mothers concerned about the level of radioactivity in their milk could ask to have it tested at a nuclear medicine facility at their hospital. When the radioactivity is at a safe level she may resume breastfeeding.
