I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Estazolam? Is Estazolam safe for nursing mother and child? Does Estazolam extracts into breast milk? Does Estazolam has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Estazolam influence milk supply or can Estazolam decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Choose a short half-life span benzodiazepine. Occasional usage is considered to be safe. Avoid its continuous use. Try to avoid it on postnatal period or if the infant nurses frequently by night. Follow-up for sedation and feeding ability of the infant. Bed-sharing is not recommended for mothers who are taking this medication.

No information is available on the use of estazolam during breastfeeding. Because of the long duration of action of estazolam, an alternate hypnotic is preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
