Answer by DrLact: About Siloxane-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide usage in lactation

Siloxane-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide is not approved for marketing in the United States by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. No information is available on the clinical use of Siloxane-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide during breastfeeding. If Siloxane-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding.[1] However, because there is no published experience with Siloxane-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide during breastfeeding, other agents may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
